Word of Wisdom

Proverbs 14:15 Test what you hear against the truth

Administrator 0 460 Article rating: No rating

There are many voices in the world vying for our attention and assent.  We have to distinguish between the harmful and the helpful.  Jesus said it this way, "Beware of the leaven of the Scribes and Pharisees!".  Some people do not take the time to consider what they hear and test it against the truth.  This proverb calls these people SIMPLE.  God imparts wisdom to those who take the time to seriously CONSIDER what they hear in the light of His principles.  Failure to follow this pattern results in spiritual blindness!  Each morning, we should ask God to give us OUR daily bread!

Proverbs 22:13 Investing in your children lays the foundation for true riches

Administrator 0 490 Article rating: No rating

How do you ensure the prosperity of your children and grand-children?  First, you must understand that accumulating money and other assets is not the key!  Many rich kids have troubled lives and squander their inheritance.  You have to invest in the character development of your children.   People who are honest, wise, and industrious will be entrusted with true riches by God and man.

Proverbs 9:2-3a What you need to succeed has been prepared for you

Larry Shepard 0 535 Article rating: No rating

We all want to succeed. The wisdom needed to succeed in life is available to all of us. Wisdom has issued her invitation "Come and eat!". Many cannot hear the call because life is noisy. Others have heard the invitation, but they do not value it. Success is found by those who respond to the call , come to the table, and eat.

Proverbs 7:1-2 The secret to power and abundant living

Larry Shepard 0 461 Article rating: 5.0

There is a scientific law called entropy.  It means that everything moves from order to disorder.  We live in a time when the very earth itself is being shaken  (see the Links section).  Nevertheless, we can live a productive and purposeful life if we treasure God's word.  If we take the time to consider His word and hide it in our hearts, God says, "we will live"!

Psalms 5:11-12 Those that trust the Lord will rejoice

Larry Shepard 0 494 Article rating: No rating

Life is difficult. There are new challenges almost every day. There are people who do not care for us and those who persecute us as they pursue theIr own way. Sometimes bad things happen for no apparent reason. Those who know and trust the Lord have a defender. When they think about what He has done and what He has promised, it causes them to shout and rejoice; even in the midst of trouble.
