Proverbs 6:32-35 People who understand the deadly consequences of adultery, will not do it!
Proverbs 6:32-35 (NKJV)
Whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding;
He who does so destroys his own soul.
Wounds and dishonor he will get,
And his reproach will not be wiped away.
For jealousy is a husband’s fury;
Therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.
He will [a]accept no recompense,
Nor will he be appeased though you give many gifts.
Modern American culture has attempted to normalize adultery. The goal is to minimize the stigma and consequences of the behavior. This, however, will never happen. A covenant breaker is a covenant breaker. A cheater is a cheater. A liar is a liar. Words, philosophy, and feelings will never dismiss the reproach, dishonor, emotional injury, and desire for revenge that are irrevocably attached to this behavior. This proverb also carries another message, God is telling us how he feels and what He will do when we cheat on Him! If we truly understood the consequences of adultery, we would NEVER do it! Selah..
